The Municipal Authority of Hazle Township (MAHT) is an independent agency created in 1966 that oversees the construction and maintenance of the sanitary sewer lines in the township. Authority members are appointed by the Hazle Township supervisors.
The authority is responsible for the billing and collection of sewage transmission fees from each resident. Payments can be made at the authority's office in the municipal building.
The authority is continuing to install sewage lines in areas of the township currently served by septic or wildcat systems. This multi-million-dollar project will take several years to complete. When finished, most of the township will be connected to sanitary sewer lines.
Members of the Municipal Authority of Hazle Township are Andrew G. Benyo, Francis J. Boyarski, Dennis Dudeck and Eugene Rafalli. All members are appointed for five-year terms.
Office hours are 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. weekdays. The authority's office phone number is (570) 459-5921.
