The Municipal Authority of Hazle Township (MAHT) was formed to comply with State and Federal mandates. Created in 1966, it consists of five members appointed by the Supervisors. The Authority is an independent agency that oversees the construction and maintenance of the sanitary sewer lines. It is also responsible for billing and collection of sewage treatment fees from each resident. It is presently in the midst of installing sewage lines in those areas of the Township now served by septic or wildcat systems. This multi-million dollar project will take about four years to complete. When finished, most of the Township will be connected to sanitary sewer lines. The MAHT maintains an office in the municipal building for payments and administration.
